Last month, we had a wonderful time out in San Francisco for Cisco Live! 2014. While there, we enjoyed the opportunity to get out and meet a bunch of the network engineers and system administrators who both understand the need for a purpose-built oob solution and use Opengear as a critical piece of their network infrastructure. It was also great to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere that a show like Cisco Live can provide, with everyone buzzing about new and exciting technologies. Infragreen, a leading Norwegian cloud and network services provider has adopted Opengear remote management technology for efficient network service delivery. When it comes to creating the world's cleanest cloud, Infragreen has gone to great lengths to build what are believed to be Europe's first carbon neutral data campuses, so it comes as no surprise that they would go to similar lengths when selecting their out of band management devices. "We chose Opengear because it has an extensive set of features which we find compelling," says Jon Suphammer, CTO for Infragreen A/S. In the United States, all cellular products need to satisfy regulatory (FCC), industry (PTCRB – PCS Type Certification Review Board), and Carrier (AT&T, Verizon, Sprint) test cases for certification. Without passing these rigorous tests, the carrier will not allow or activate a given cellular product on their network. Currently, even though 4G coverage is growing, few networking products incorporate cellular into their offerings because the costs and obstacles are so high, and the risk of being obsolete even before the product is approved is one many other companies aren't willing to take. |
