Opengear Announces Wireless Remote Infrastructure Management Gateway

Opengear (www.opengear.com), a leading provider of next-generation remote networking infrastructure management solutions, today announced that its ACM5500 family of Remote Infrastructure Management (RIM) Gateways has been extended to include a new member with an integrated wireless access point (Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n). The ACM5504-5-G-W-I offers integrated cellular, wired and wireless access, allowing IT managers a range of connectivity options to easily manage critical infrastructure at local and remote sites – ensuring uptime and business continuity.

“We are excited about the addition of Wireless Access Point capabilities to our ACM5500 RIM family,” said Rick Stevenson, CEO, Opengear. “Our clients are continually looking for better ways to manage their critical infrastructure, especially in remote locations. The new ACM5504-5-G-W-I extends our solution to allow direct management of Wi-Fi enabled devices. It also provides the option of convenient wireless access to the management network using mobile devices such as, tablets and smartphones.”

The ACM5500 product family provides serial console-port connectivity, environmental monitoring, power management and monitoring and remote site storage of offline logs and running configuration files. The ACM5500 family also includes environmental sensors, local 4GB storage, internal V.92 and cellular modems that enable out-of-band access, automated remote management and support, and enterprise grade security. With the Opengear ACM5500 family of RIM gateways, secure in-band and out-of-band access to remote sites is available from anywhere in the world, thereby providing better control and visibility into a network and its physical environment.

The ACM5500 product line has been recognized by winning Australia’s iAward and won the 7th Annual 2012 Hot Companies and Best Products Awards in the Most Innovative IT Hardware category from Network Products Guide.

ACM5504-5-G-W-I: Opengear’s Secure Remote Infrastructure Gateway now provides wireless access point capabilities to our popular hardware solution. The existing remote connectivity features (which includes an environmentally hardened device, dual SIM slots, local storage for logs, hardened software security and 3G connectivity) are now improved with Wireless Access Point capabilities, which enable:

  • Single communication solution for multiple device and protocol aggregation
  • Wireless device connectivity to the RIM Gateway for troubleshooting
  • Wireless sensor connectivity
  • Wi-Fi to cellular bridging
