In addition to exhibiting key solutions at booth K9, Opengear founder Bob Waldie will speak on the move to open platforms in the data centre

HONG KONG – May 11, 2016 – Opengear (www.opengear.com), a leading provider of critical infrastructure management solutions through advanced console serversremote managementmonitoring, and cellular out-of-band products, today announced its participation at Data Centre World 2016 in Hong Kong, held May 18-19 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Opengear is a Silver Sponsor at the annual conference, Northern Asia’s largest exhibition of data centre technologies.

Opengear will demonstrate the latest additions to its data centre management solutions – essential for network resilience in the data centre – at booth K9. Data centre professionals can learn more about Opengear’s Smart OOB™ out-of-band management of power supply, network, server and environmental conditions, as well as how its Failover-to-Cellular™ technology automatically jumps to a 4G LTE or 3G cellular connection when primary connections fail. Opengear’s award-winning technologies continue to pave the way in keeping data centre networks resilient through intelligent remote monitoring and management.

Opengear is also well-represented on the Data Centre World agenda, with Bob Waldie, Opengear’s Founder, delivering a session on how enterprises can move from turnkey infrastructure management products to open platforms in the data centre. Just as technology virtualisation has brought openness to data processing and compute solutions – enabling any OS or application to run on any hardware and with orchestration tools managing complexity – SDN and open source white box switches are now bringing that same openness to networking.

Attendees of this session will gain a clear understanding of the evolving infrastructure management requirements that this shift necessitates. Whereas traditional users will continue utilizing turnkey products for needs such as plug-and-play features or reliable security, a new breed of DevOps users will take advantage of open platforms to build their own secure stacks. Part of the conference’s track exploring Data Centres of the Future, it will also cover risks that sysadmins who manage compute infrastructure and user-facing applications will now face by managing networking as well. Attendees can hear Mr. Waldie’s talk on May 18, the first day of the conference, in the Virtualisation, Infrastructure, Storage and SDN theatre from 10:10-10:35am.

“Technology is always evolving to become more connected and more open, and what’s going on in today’s data centre is really a great example of this,” said Rick Stevenson, CEO, Opengear. “We’re excited to participate in Data Centre World 2016, to share our solutions for safeguarding the resilience and uninterrupted connectivity of network infrastructure in the data centre, and to offer our vision for the future of this industry as open platforms invite in exciting new capabilities.”
