When we transition products to End of Sale (EOS) or End of Support (EOSupport) status, it is the result of careful consideration, balancing the needs of your infrastructure with changes to the supply chain, and the new innovations that allow us to serve you better.
At Opengear, our commitment to you doesn’t end when a product does. We work closely with our customers to ensure that every transition is a smooth one, providing clear guidance toward next-generation solutions purpose-built to protect your investment, extend the value of your infrastructure, and position your operations for long-term success.
Lifecycle Definitions
End of Sale Announcement (EOS Announcement): The End of Sale announcement begins the process of the product’s end of sale. This announcement provides a list of product SKUs that are applicable, relevant replacement products, and the dates that the product will enter Last Time Buy and End of Support status.
Last Time Buy (LTB): The Last Time Buy date marks the last day a product is available for purchase from Opengear. While the product will no longer be sold after this date, we remain committed to supporting customers who have invested in it. Opengear will continue to address critical security vulnerabilities for products under warranty until the End of Support date, or until all product support contracts have been fulfilled, whichever comes later. This includes remote unauthenticated privilege escalations, critical Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs), critical information leaks, and remote code execution vulnerabilities
End of Support (EOSupport): The End of Support date marks the final date on which Opengear provides ordinary support for a product. After this date, software updates and security patches will no longer be provided. Customers who have purchased extended support will continue to receive coverage in accordance with the terms of that agreement.
Key Timelines
Our standard End of Sale/End of Support policy is structured around three clear milestones, giving you ample time to plan your transition:
- End of Sale Announcement (EOS Announcement): Begins the EOS process. The announcement is to be posted on the website and notifications to customers begin.
- Last Time Buy (LTB): Approximately six months after the EOS Announcement, this is the final date on which the product can be purchased.
- End of Support Date (EOSupport): Five years after the Last Time Buy Date, or upon expiry of any active support agreement, whichever comes later.
These timelines are designed to align with established industry standards across networking and IT infrastructure management, ensuring you have the time and support needed to transition with confidence.
Opengear Warranty
All Opengear branded appliances come with a 5-year standard warranty that includes software updates and hardware replacement while under warranty.
Purchasing or renewing a support agreement will allow a customer to receive technical support, software updates, and advanced hardware replacement while under the agreement.
